HHS juniors perform in PMEA District 1 Honors Band Concert

Hampton High School juniors, Anna Houpt and Samantha Nicely, performed in the PMEA District 1 Honors Band Concert at North Hills MS on Nov. 20.
They were two of 110 students from Allegheny, Washington, Westmoreland, Fayette, and Greene counties to participate in this festival, making their acceptance quite an honor!
The students had the privilege of working with Professor Russel C. Mikkelson from Ohio State University. Professor Mikkelson oversees all aspects of the conducting and band programs at OSU where he is the director of the Ohio State Wind Symphony.
Samantha and Anna earned positions in this honors band by way of a very competitive audition in early October. The honors band performed musical selections by Jan Van der Roost, Eric Whitacre, Gustav Holst, Andrew Boysen, and Henry Fillmore.
